Okay, I guess I won't be reading my Yuletide story yet. I get a time-out error.

If you are my Anon come to peek to see why I haven't commented yet, this is why!

Eee Ronia fic! And Lotesse informs me it's not the only Ronia fic this year either. Eeheehee wonderful wonderful. I don't think I have ever read any fanfic written for any of Astrid Lindgren's novels, though I'm sure they're out there.

Starting on Thursday, Livejournal means to force you to choose either "male" or "female" as your gender.

Denise suggests we protest by changing our gender to "unspecified" before then. I'm gonna do that, then.

Edit: False-ish alarm! LJ takes it back.

Edit 2: Haha LJ LIES

Plug!

A new gen ficathon is proposed by [personal profile] merfilly! I know it's a bad time for ficathons, but you can always just leave prompts, and anyway by the time the claiming starts y'all are supposed to have finished your Yuletides already.

Gennnnnnnn. You know you want to!

Fic recs? (Edit and update!)

December 2nd, 2009 (06:00 am)

Not for me, mind you. I'm still one of the worst fic-readers ever. For Gilly!

She's looking for fics of 4,000 words or more, mostly. She has mostly read Star Trek (TOS and Reboot), Aubreyad and Merlin this year, is on a bit of a TOS kick right now, but I think she'd go equally well for LotR, Boston Legal, LotR RPF etc.

Edit: This year she has been reading the following fandoms: 3rd Rock from the Sun * A Bit of Fry and Laurie * Absolutely Fabulous * Actor RPS * Aire Libre * A Knight's Tale * Aire Libre * Aladdin * Apple - Get a Mac * Aubrey-Maturin * Babysitter's Club * Beauty and the Beast * Big Bang Theory * Black Books * Boston Legal * Buffy, the Vampire Slayer * Canterbury Tales * Chuck * Dogma * Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog * Dr Who * Due South * Fake News RPS * Firefly * Flight of the Conchords * Futurama * Galaxy Quest * Good Omens * Hancock * Harry Potter * Historical RPS * Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy * Hornblower * Hot Fuzz * House * House RPS * Jabberwocky * Le Morte d'Arthur * Merlin * Merlin RPS * Midsummer Night's Dream * Mock the Week RPS * Monty Python * Mythbusters * Narnia * Night at the Museum * Priceline RPS * Pushing Daisies * QI RPS * Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman * Road to El Dorado * Shaun of the Dead * Snow White * Stardust * Star Trek: The Next Generation * Star Trek: The Original Series * Star Trek TOS RPS * Star Trek XI * Star Trek XI RPS * Teletubbies *  Temeraire * The Great Mouse Detective * The History of Middle Earth + The Lord of the Rings RPS * The Man from U.N.C.L.E. * The Persuaders * The Road to Samarcand * The Simpsons * The Twilight Zone * Torchwood *  Whose Line is it Anyway? RPS * XKCD

Do you need "credentials" to be a feminist?

Usually when I hear a woman say "I'm not a feminist, but", my first thought is "why the hell not?° and my first guess is "she probably doesn't like the baggage that comes with the word". I realize there could be other reasons: she thinks men should lead; she thinks men have a rougher deal than women; maybe she wants to disassociate as far as possible from certain other, loud, cissexist/racist/ablist/anti-sex etc feminists; or maybe she doesn't feel she qualifies for some other reason.

I feel quite comfortable calling myself a feminist and defining for myself what that means for me, as most other feminists seem to, as well. The only doubt I have is this: am I feminist enough, because I'm not as erudite or vocal as some other feminists?

So, poll. Dreamwidth -only, because I don't have a paid LJ account (don't need one either, waste of money). (Might put some version of this up on AMCBlog as well later on.)

Boys can answer too!

Dear Yuletide Santa Letter

Dear Santa,

I'm very excited about the exchange! )

Diana is not the only one.

I've been sort of obsessively looking through Spader photos and it's freaking me out how many other people he bears an uncanny resemblance to. Just One of Those Faces, I guess!

Also, while we're at it, have a macro.
